It wasn’t just some of Elon Musk’s jokes that bombed on last weekend’s “Saturday Night Live.”
The quirky billionaire’s net worth has dropped by $20.5 billion since his less-than-starmaking comedy debut, Forbes estimated.
But the Tesla and SpaceX leader probably doesn’t have to worry just yet: he’s still valued at a whopping $145.5 billion at the close of the markets on Thursday.
That would mean he’s still the third richest person on Earth and $110 billion richer than he was a year ago, the Forbes analysis said.
The publication based its estimates on Tesla shares dropping 15% this week. On Wednesday, Musk announced the company would no longer accept Bitcoin as a payment for its electrical vehicles, which put the cryptocurrency in a plunge.
Musk, one of the rare hosts who wasn’t an actor or athlete, joked about Dogecoin during his SNL monologue, which featured a guest appearance from his mother.
“I’m excited for my Mother’s Day gift,” Musk’s mother said. “I just hope it’s not Dogecoin.”
Dogecoin dropped 21% during the broadcast, according to Coindesk’s price history.
